    ADJOURNMENTS AND APPEARANCES IN COURT
The purpose of charging a defendant to court is to ensure that all the parties involved are given an opportunity to state their own side of the story.

The courts were created for everyone, both the victim and the offender. They are there to dispense justice appropriately.

    Points To Note:
 A defendant must appear regularly in court until the case is finally disposed off. If he is absent, bench warrant may be issued against him and his surety.
 All courts sit at 9.00a.m. Lateness to court is not acceptable.
 A defendant cannot be re-arrested for the same offence for which he is already facing trial in the court.
 A defendant cannot be charged to court twice for the same offence.
 A defendant who has been convicted or acquitted of an offence cannot be tried again for that same offence.
 Pardon from the President, Governor, or Chief Judge has the effect of wiping out the records of the offence: so anybody who has been pardoned cannot be tried for that same offence again for life.
 No one can be tried for an offence unknown to law or on a law that is not written.
